Scottish developer Muirhall Energy has been awarded Contracts for Difference (CfDs) for four onshore wind projects in Scotland under the UK’s latest allocation round, the company said.
The awards cover a combined 143.3 megawatts of capacity at a strike price of £72.24 per megawatt-hour. The projects include the Hopsrig and Loganhead wind farms in Dumfries and Galloway, Glen Ullinish 1 in the Highlands, and the Tormywheel Extension in West Lothian, according to Muirhall Energy.
The company said the outcome supports its strategy of delivering renewable energy developments that provide long-term economic and social benefits in host communities.
“We welcome today’s AR7a announcement, which confirms that Muirhall Energy has successfully secured contracts for four onshore wind farm projects, amounting to a potential installed capacity of 143.3MW,” said Sarah McIntosh, managing director of Muirhall Energy.
She said onshore wind remains a cornerstone of the UK power system. “As one of the cheapest and most established renewables technologies, onshore wind will continue to play a critical role in the UK’s energy mix,” McIntosh said.
McIntosh added that future allocation rounds should continue to be designed in a way that enables deployment while remaining cost-reflective to sustain investment and further growth.
