China’s Largest Onshore Wind Power Base Attains Full-Capacity Production in Inner Mongolia

China General Nuclear Power Corporation (CGN) has successfully commenced full-capacity production at its wind power facility in Hinggan League, Inner Mongolia, making it the country's largest wind power base currently operational. With an annual generating capacity exceeding 10 billion kilowatt-hours (kWh), the project is part of China's planned expansion of large-scale wind and solar power bases in desert regions.

The electricity generated by the wind power plant is characterized as environmentally friendly, contributing to a reduction in standard coal consumption by an estimated 2.96 million tonnes and preventing the discharge of approximately 8.02 million tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions, according to CGN.

Zhang Zhiwu, Chairman of the board of CGN New Energy Holdings Co. Ltd., emphasized the significant impact of the wind power base on CGN's overall new energy capacity. He mentioned that CGN's total installed capacity for new energy power generation facilities in China is expected to reach 45 million kilowatts by the year's end. The term “new energy” encompasses various sources, including wind power, power, solar power, power extraction and storage, energy storage, and power.

CGN's extensive portfolio of over 570 new energy power generation facilities is strategically located across 30 provincial-level regions in China.
