Lhyfe has commenced construction on its first green hydrogen production facility in Croixrault, located in the Somme region of Hauts-de-France. The new site will supply renewable hydrogen to manufacturers and mobility companies in the region, helping them decarbonize their operations.
The project is part of a broader initiative led by the Communauté de Communes Somme Sud-Ouest, a local authority comprising 119 member communities. The initiative aims to foster local employment and create an economic environment conducive to business growth.
Starting in 2026, Lhyfe's Croixrault facility will have the capacity to produce up to two tonnes of green hydrogen daily, powered by a 5MW electrolysis unit. According to the company, two tonnes of green hydrogen is equivalent to the amount required for a hydrogen truck to travel approximately 25,000 kilometers without emitting any CO2.
This facility will complete Lhyfe's coverage of France, complementing its existing operations in the West (Pays de la Loire and Brittany), South-West (Occitanie), and East (a site under construction in Auvergne Rhône-Alpes). Additionally, the controllable nature of the Croixrault site will help stabilize the power grid in the Hauts-de-France region. At the request of the grid operator, Lhyfe will adjust its electricity use to support the grid during peak demand.
