Nordex has received an order to supply 66 MW of wind turbines for the Douglas West Extension, an onshore wind farm being developed by Capital Dynamics in South Lanarkshire, Scotland.
Located approximately 40 km southeast of Glasgow, the project will feature 12 N149/5.X turbines from Nordex, supported by a 30-year Premium Service contract.
The Douglas West Extension benefits from excellent wind conditions, optimizing the performance of the turbines. It is part of a broader wind farm cluster in the region, with several operational and approved projects nearby.
Nordex will begin delivering and installing the turbines in the summer of 2025, using tubular steel towers with a hub height of 125 meters, in line with the site's total construction height requirement of 200 meters per turbine.
Jason Welch, Managing Director for Nordex UK & Ireland, commented, “We are honoured to be delivering highly efficient turbines to our valued customer, Capital Dynamics, for their Douglas West Extension project. This will be another great onshore wind project within the UK that will help to cut energy bills and increase the country's energy independence and security.”
