SeAH Wind has announced that it will commence commercial production at its £900 million monopile manufacturing plant at Teesworks in the UK starting next month. The company confirmed that trial production activities and final installations are now fully underway at the facility.

In a significant milestone, the first 7.5-meter diameter steel can was rolled during pre-production trials at the plant late last year. The facility is expected to play a pivotal role in supporting SeAH Wind’s export plans, with monopiles set to be shipped to markets in both the US and Europe.

A ceremonial visit by His Majesty King Charles III on 13 February marked the progress of the plant’s opening. During his visit, the King toured the production line alongside senior leaders, graduates, and apprentices from SeAH Wind, unveiling a commemorative plaque to mark the occasion.

SeAH Steel Holdings President Lee Joo-Sung commented, “This is a real landmark in the history of SeAH Wind. It was a privilege for our apprentices to meet His Majesty. They are the future of our company, and it is inspiring to see them front and centre of this big occasion for the company.”

The Teesworks facility, which spans 1.1 million square feet, will have an annual production capacity of 400,000 tonnes and is expected to generate up to 750 jobs.
