JFE Shoji and Elridge Energy Ink Biomass Supply Agreement

's Group has partnered with Malaysia's Holdings through its subsidiary Bio Eneco to secure a long-term supply of Green Gold Label (GGL)-certified palm kernel shell (PKS) . The memorandum of understanding (MoU) entails the delivery of 150,000 metric tonnes (MT) of biomass annually, starting in April 2025 and extending until March 2040.

“This MoU marks a milestone, not just for Japan but for the entire biomass market, ensuring a consistent supply of sustainably certified biomass from Malaysia,” said Takeshi Sudo, managing director of JFE Shoji (Malaysia). He noted that the collaboration is aligned with Japan's carbon neutrality goals and stringent sustainability standards.

Elridge Energy CEO Oliver Yeo highlighted the mutual advantages of the agreement, adding that the partnership underscores Japan's trust in Elridge's production capabilities and elevates Malaysia's role as a key supplier of renewable energy resources.

The deal reinforces JFE Shoji's commitment to sourcing sustainable energy solutions while supporting Malaysia's expanding footprint in the renewable energy market.
