Foundation installation has been completed at the 1.2-gigawatt Baltic Power offshore wind farm in Polish waters, the project’s developers said, marking a key construction milestone.
Baltic Power is a joint venture between ORLEN Group and Northland Power.
The partners said all 78 monopile foundations have been installed, along with 60 of 78 transition pieces. Turbine installation is also under way, with 30 of 76 units already erected.
More than 20 vessels and around 500 crew members and contractor representatives have taken part in the offshore construction campaign.
Electricity generated at the site in the Baltic Sea is expected to be delivered to Poland’s grid by the end of this year, the joint venture said.
ORLEN Chief Executive Ireneusz Fąfara said the milestone reflected the scale of the undertaking.
“The successful delivery of these unprecedented operations – both in terms of scope and scale – is a source of pride for us,” Fąfara said.
“The installation teams carried out highly precise pile-driving operations, installing foundations weighing between 1,300 and 1,700 tonnes and reaching up to 100 metres in length.
“The completion of this milestone brings us closer to the goal of supplying clean electricity from the Baltic Sea to millions of customers in Poland by the end of this year.”
Northland Power President and CEO Christine Healy said the work demonstrated the consortium’s execution capabilities.
“Installing all 78 foundations safely and with precision requires strong planning, coordination and expertise, and is proof of our strong capabilities executing large-scale offshore wind,” Healy said.
“This is a major milestone for the project, and reflects the strength of our joint teams.”
The offshore wind farm will be equipped with 76 Vestas V236-15.0 MW turbines. The full construction campaign is expected to conclude in the second half of 2026.
