Inch Cape Offshore Limited announced the arrival of its first export cable at the Port of Blyth, marking a significant step forward for the offshore wind development.
The 85-kilometre-long, 220kV dual circuit alternating current (AC) cable arrived overnight aboard the barge Dong Fang Hai Gong 07, escorted up the River Blyth estuary by the tug Brent.
Installation work will be conducted in three sections by Enshore Subsea using its CMOS Installer vessel, the company said.
Manufactured by Orient Cable, the 2000mm² cable is among the largest AC export cables globally, Inch Cape noted.
The project is a joint venture between ESB and Red Rock Power.
Inch Cape Offshore Limited described the delivery as “a key milestone” in the development of the offshore wind farm.
