Ulstein Verft announced today the successful launch of its latest Commissioning Service Operation Vessel (CSOV), the Yno 320, for BS Offshore. This new vessel, designed to enhance offshore wind operations, can accommodate up to 132 crew members and clients.
The Yno 320’s launch follows an extensive outfitting phase, which involved the installation of critical electrical and mechanical systems, piping, and accommodation spaces, as well as system integration. The vessel was towed from Ulstein Verft’s dock hall in Norway to the outer dock on Friday, where the Ampelmann tower and gangway were added. The vessel was then moved into the sea and positioned quayside, where it will remain until sea trials begin.
Ulstein emphasized that the Yno 320 features its TWIN X-STERN design, which supports safer operations in offshore conditions, as well as a 3D-compensated crane and a Walk-to-Work gangway to facilitate personnel and cargo transfer to offshore wind turbine facilities. The vessel is also equipped with a diesel-electric propulsion system and substantial battery energy storage, which will significantly reduce its environmental impact. Additionally, the vessel has been prepared for methanol use as an alternative fuel.
“The launch of this CSOV new-build marks a leap forward in supporting the offshore wind industry,” an Ulstein spokesperson said. “The vessel offers modern, high-comfort accommodation for up to 132 crew and clients. It is planned for delivery in Q2 2025, further enhancing BS Offshore’s operational capabilities.
The Yno 320 is expected to support BS Offshore’s growing operations in the offshore wind sector.
