EDP Renováveis SA has announced the successful connection of its 72-megawatt-peak (MWp) photovoltaic (PV) farm, Campo Agrosolare Tuscia 15, to the grid in Italy's Lazio region.
This marks the company's second utility-scale solar asset in the country, featuring double-sided panels located in the district of Tuscania, within the town of Viterbo.
The Campo Agrosolare is expected to generate approximately 66 gigawatt-hours (GWh) of clean electricity annually, which is sufficient to meet the energy demands of over 25,000 local households.
This development is aimed at enhancing energy independence and reinforcing the Italian energy system, aligning with Italy's National Integrated Energy and Climate Plan (PNIEC), which targets up to 80 gigawatts of installed photovoltaic capacity by 2030.
In July, EDP Renováveis inaugurated its first utility-scale solar park in Italy, the 10-MWp Boccadoro PV park located in the Puglia region.
To date, the company has installed more than 600 MW of wind and solar capacity in Italy, and through its solar-focused subsidiary, EDP Energia Italia, it has secured over 130 MWp in self-consumption installations.
