RWE and SKW Piesteritz collaborate for a decade-long contract that will provide the German chemical company with hydropower-derived electricity beginning in 2025. At least 40% of SKW Piesteritz's electricity demands will be covered by certified green electricity from hydropower. This move is a part of SKW Piesteritz's larger goal of transitioning to green energy sources and creating a sustainable future energy mix.
SKW Piesteritz's CEO, Petr Cingr, commented on the importance of green energy in their sustainability efforts, stating that hydropower is a crucial component of their green transformation. Using renewable energy will help the company save around 70,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions annually. With the help of the new contract, the company will be able to continue producing green products, such as fertilizers and AdBlue, with the ‘Made in Germany' seal of trust and quality.
This collaboration is a significant step forward for the companies in the fight against climate change. The use of green energy is not only environmentally friendly, but it also helps businesses save costs in the long run. With the rise in climate change awareness, more companies are shifting towards sustainable practices and transitioning to green energy. This move towards renewable energy sources will help reduce greenhouse gas emissions and pave the way for a sustainable future.
