RWE’s 27-MW Wind Farm in Juechen, Germany Commences Operations

German energy group AG announced on Monday the successful initiation of operations at a 27-MW wind farm located in Juechen, western . This wind farm replaces a previous facility with defects and has now commenced supplying to the grid.

The newly constructed Juechen A 44n wind farm comprises six turbines and was rebuilt following the discovery of structural defects in the concrete parts of the hybrid towers of the original wind turbines.

RWE holds a majority stake of 51% in the cooperative wind farm, with the municipality of Juechen and energy supplier NEW owning the remaining 49%.

Agata Schallenberg, head of the construction department for wind and farms at RWE in Germany, highlighted the significance of the project, stating, “The wind farm on recultivated opencast mining land contributes to RWE's goal of consistently expanding the share of generation in the Rhenish mining area.”

The reconstruction efforts for the wind farm commenced in November 2022.
