Shell is reportedly considering selling its stakes in floating offshore wind projects planned off the Scottish coast.
According to Bloomberg, the oil major intends to sell leases it acquired to develop floating wind farms in the area, citing unnamed sources familiar with the matter.
The potential divestment involves up to 5GW of projects that Shell has been advancing through a joint venture with ScottishPower. Both Shell and ScottishPower declined to comment on the Bloomberg report when approached by reNEWS.
The companies secured joint offers for seabed rights off Scotland in 2022 as part of the ScotWind leasing round, which includes the 3GW MarramWind and 2GW CampionWind projects.
