Entergy and NextEra Energy Resources Join Forces for 4.5 GW Solar and Energy Storage Venture

US utility giant Entergy has forged a strategic joint development agreement with NextEra Energy Resources LLC, a subsidiary of NextEra Energy, to embark on the development of up to 4.5 GW of new generation and projects, as announced by both companies on Friday.

The joint development partnership, spanning a five-year duration, signifies a pivotal move towards meeting growing electricity demand with low-cost renewable generation and storage solutions.

Rebecca Kujawa, President and CEO of NextEra Energy Resources, expressed confidence in the transformative potential of , stating, “We believe the power sector is at an inflection point, and growing electricity demand will be met by low-cost, renewable generation and storage.” She further highlighted the significance of the agreement in strengthening the longstanding collaboration between the two companies, noting the addition of up to 4.5 GW of capacity to complement the existing portfolio of renewable energy projects already underway with Entergy.

Entergy, headquartered in New Orleans, serves approximately three million customers across Arkansas, , , and Texas through its operating companies. Leveraging its extensive experience and infrastructure, Entergy is poised to play a pivotal role in advancing renewable energy initiatives within its service territories.

Meanwhile, NextEra Energy Resources boasts a vast operational footprint, encompassing approximately 30,600 MW of total net generating capacity spread across 41 US states and Canada. The company's robust presence and expertise position it as a key player in driving the transition towards sustainable energy solutions.
