German renewables developer BayWa r.e. AG has announced a significant milestone in the Japanese market with the signing of a 25-year corporate power purchase agreement (PPA) with a glass manufacturer, alongside several other achievements.
Nippon Sheet Glass Co Ltd has committed to purchasing 90% of the output from a BayWa r.e. solar farm at a fixed price under the PPA, which has now been finalized and made effective.
In addition to this agreement, BayWa r.e. has celebrated the commercial operation date of its 50-MW Kobe solar farm. Furthermore, the company has successfully secured project financing for its 8-MW Tsuno solar project in collaboration with ORIX Bank.
BayWa r.e. has emphasized its commitment to diversifying its portfolio in Japan by also venturing into battery energy storage and wind power projects.
Among its ongoing projects in Japan, BayWa r.e. has completed the construction of the 35-MW Isohara and the 12-MW Izumi solar farms, both of which were subsequently sold after reaching full operational capacity.
