Norwegian energy software provider Volue has acquired SmartPulse, a short-term power trading and battery optimisation platform, in a move aimed at accelerating its growth across key European energy markets.
The deal, announced on Monday, gives Volue access to SmartPulse’s technology and team of over 80 specialists. The platform caters to asset owners and aggregators across Europe and is a certified Independent Software Vendor (ISV) at exchanges including EPEX SPOT and Nord Pool.
Volue said the acquisition will support its geographic expansion in Central and Eastern Europe, Southern Europe and Turkey, while enhancing its battery storage and optimisation capabilities. Financial details of the transaction were not disclosed.
“With this acquisition, we accelerate our expansion into new European markets and strengthen our position as a full-suite provider for renewable asset operators,” said Martin Vieider, Volue’s interim chief executive. “The move directly enhances our battery storage and optimisation capabilities, deepens our presence across regions, and supports our ambition of becoming the leading global independent energy software player.”
Founded in 2018, SmartPulse has developed a digital platform that helps connect distributed energy assets to electricity markets. The company said access to Volue’s commercial resources and infrastructure would support its continued development and broader rollout.
“Joining Volue enables us to accelerate our European rollout of TSO connections and broaden our suite internationally, while giving our customers the confidence of a market‑leading global partner,” said Önder Akar, CEO and founder of SmartPulse. “We share Volue’s ambition of connecting assets to markets, and we’re excited to scale that vision together.”
Volue provides software, data, and market services to support the energy transition, and currently serves more than 2,500 customers in over 40 countries.
