Spanish energy technology firm Ingeteam has supported the commissioning of a 640-megawatt direct current (MWdc) solar power project in Texas, marking its largest photovoltaic (PV) inverter deployment in the United States to date.
The Parliament Solar project, developed and managed by Parliament Energy, is located in Waller County, near Houston. Once fully operational, the solar farm is expected to generate approximately 1,100 gigawatt-hours (GWh) of electricity annually—enough to meet the energy needs of around 140,000 homes.
Ingeteam’s contribution to the project included the supply of 149 PV inverters and commissioning services, which were carried out from the company’s facility in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
“Our experience in the market and the fact that we have a consolidated subsidiary on US soil have been key factors when awarding and executing the project,” said Nohra Nasr, vice president and general manager for solar PV and battery energy storage systems (BESS) at Ingeteam USA. “We hope it will be the first in a long list with this client.”
To date, Ingeteam has supplied more than 6 gigawatts (GW) of solar inverter and energy storage capacity to the U.S. market, which it views as a priority region for growth in the renewables sector.
According to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), utility-scale solar capacity in the U.S. surpassed that of nuclear power as of January 2024, reflecting a broader shift in the country’s energy mix toward renewable sources.
