TotalEnergies has started commercial operations at its 720 MWp Danish Fields and 455 MWp Cottonwood solar farms in southeast Texas. These projects, with integrated battery storage, bring a combined capacity of 1.2 GW and are part of a larger 4 GW portfolio of renewable energy assets in Texas.
Danish Fields, the largest solar farm developed by TotalEnergies in the U.S., features 1.4 million photovoltaic panels and a 225 MWh battery storage system supplied by Saft. Seventy percent of its solar capacity has been contracted through long-term Corporate Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) with companies such as Saint-Gobain. The remaining 30% will power TotalEnergies' industrial plants in the U.S. Gulf Coast.
Cottonwood, which has over 847,000 ground-mounted PV panels, is set to include a 225 MWh battery storage system by 2025. The electricity production has been contracted through PPAs with companies like LyondellBasell and Saint-Gobain to support their decarbonization efforts.
“The start-ups of Danish Fields and Cottonwood in the fast-growing ERCOT market showcase TotalEnergies' ability to deliver competitive renewable electricity to support our clients' decarbonization goals, as well as our own,” said Olivier Jouny, senior vice president of renewables at TotalEnergies.
