Norwegian state-owned utility AS has announced plans to proceed with the construction of a 47 MWp solar park with storage in Saxony-Anhalt, . Named , the hybrid complex is slated for completion by the end of 2025, making it the largest of its kind in the country.

Located in the municipality of Zerbst, on a former gravel pit spanning approximately 41 hectares (101 acres), the solar array is expected to generate enough electricity to power around 14,000 homes annually.

The project includes a 16 MW battery system (BESS) capable of providing two hours of storage capacity.

Statkraft anticipates obtaining a building permit for the project this summer and plans to commence construction shortly thereafter.

The company also mentioned considering expanding its solar park initiatives to include additional battery storage, following its success in securing a market premium for the Zerbst project through an innovation tender by the German Federal Network Agency last June.
