Polish Fishing Vessels to Support Construction Safety at Baltic Power Offshore Wind Farm

Polish fishing vessels will play a crucial role in ensuring safety during the construction of the 1.14-GW Baltic Power offshore .

Developed by Polish oil refiner Orlen and 's Northland Power, the wind farm will benefit from the support of three guard vessels provided under a contract with Polish offshore services provider Mewo SA.

These vessels will monitor and communicate with other passing vessels, such as fishing, tourist, and commercial boats, ensuring safe operations in the construction zone.

Jarosław Broda, a board member of Baltic Power, expressed confidence in the local fishing crews overseeing the surveillance. He noted their deep knowledge of the waters not only enhances safety but also strengthens community involvement in the project.

Baltic Power is currently the only offshore wind farm project in Polish waters under construction. The project has already made significant progress with the development of its onshore , the production of key components, and preparations for offshore construction.

Recently, the company took delivery of the first monopiles for its turbines, completed one of the four connections to onshore substations, and welcomed its first installation to the port of Gdynia. Additionally, two vessels have been hired to transport crews to the offshore site from the service base in Leba.
