ALLETE Clean Energy Sells 70-MW Whitetail Wind Project to Invenergy for Wisconsin Utility

The Chicago-based clean energy company will complete the development, construction, and operational management of the Whitetail wind farm before transferring ownership to Wisconsin-based utilities, including We Energies, Wisconsin Public Service Corp. (WPS), and and Electric Co. (MGE).

Spanning 5,938 acres in Grant County's Clifton and Wingville townships, Whitetail will feature up to 21 wind turbines designed to power thousands of households. ALLETE initially acquired the project from PRC Wind in 2021, alongside the 91.6-MW Red Barn wind project, which was sold to WPS and MGE in 2022.

This transaction aligns with ALLETE's strategy to advance renewable energy projects, while supporting Wisconsin utilities in expanding their clean energy portfolios.
