Edify Energy Pty Ltd has applied for federal approval to construct a 250MW solar park coupled with an on-site 800MWh battery energy storage system (BESS) in central Victoria, Australia.
The project, named the Muskerry photovoltaic (PV) farm, is under review by the government to assess its environmental impact under the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation (EPBC) Act.
The proposed project, located across 1057 hectares near Bendigo, will be split into Muskerry North and South, connecting to a 220-kV transmission line in the area.
The facility will combine power generation and energy storage, with the lithium-ion BESS offering four hours of discharge capacity.
Expected to take about 12 months to construct, the solar park is projected to generate 612,000 MWh of electricity annually, enough to power approximately 93,000 households.
The land, currently used for agriculture, could continue to support cropping and sheep grazing alongside the solar facility.
