The Dominican Republic's national energy commission, CNE, has granted a definitive concession for the construction and operation of a 49.98-MW/60.04-MWp farm, which will include a battery system (BESS).

The concession allows LCV Ecoener Solares Dominicana SRL to build the Payita 2 solar farm and a BESS with a capacity of 15 MW/60 MWh in Nagua, located in the Maria Trinidad Sanchez province. LCV Ecoener is the project company of Spanish renewables developer Ecoener SA.

This development follows Ecoener's previous success in securing a definitive concession for the construction of the 50-MW Payita 1 solar farm in the same area.

The Payita 2 project aligns with CNE's resolutions aimed at promoting storage systems within projects, thereby supporting the Dominican government's commitment to reducing reliance on fossil fuels and enhancing the use of clean energy sources.
