Windward Offshore has entered into a joint venture with Stodig Ship Management to oversee the technical and crew operations of its commissioning service operation vessels (CSOVs). This partnership, formalized through a memorandum of understanding (MoU), represents a significant milestone for Windward Offshore, aimed at ensuring “operational excellence and first-class service” aboard its vessels, which are vital to supporting the offshore wind industry.
Based in Hamburg, the new collaboration will provide comprehensive technical and crew management services for Windward Offshore's fleet of four CSOVs. The first two vessels are currently under construction in Romania and Norway, while the remaining two are being built in Vietnam. All vessels will utilize the Vard 4 19 design and feature battery hybrid technology, with preparations for future operation on green methanol.
The first vessel is set to be delivered in the latter half of 2025, followed by the remaining three in 2026. After assessing multiple potential partners, Windward Offshore chose Stodig for its agility, extensive experience, and proven track record in managing similar vessels.
“Stodig's expertise in managing vessels, particularly CSOVs and SOVs, is a perfect fit for our experience in offshore wind operations and commitment to excellence,” said Windward Offshore managing director Benjamin Vordemfelde.
Gisle Rong, managing director of Stodig Ship Management, expressed enthusiasm for the partnership, stating, “We are excited to see this partnership materialize and are dedicated to contributing to its success. The quality approach of Windward Offshore fits well with our strategy of providing high-quality, tailor-made services for our customers.”
