Vattenfall has signed a multi-year framework agreement with Van Oord for the chartering of the jack-up vessel MPI Resolution to support offshore wind asset maintenance.
The agreement secures the vessel's availability for several months each year, particularly from March to October, with an option to extend beyond the initial term.
Pavlo Malyshenko, Vattenfall's head of offshore generation, emphasized the importance of the agreement, stating, “Now that the availability of the MPI Resolution is ensured, we expect to see significant improvements in operations and maintenance (O&M) when it comes to replacing major components.”
The partnership aims to improve operational efficiency in maintaining Vattenfall's offshore wind portfolio across Europe. Arnoud Kuis, Van Oord's managing director of offshore energy, noted the strategic value of the collaboration, saying, “Van Oord understands the importance of strategic partnerships, and we are proud that Vattenfall has once again chosen us as a trusted partner for the maintenance of its European offshore wind portfolio.”
The new long-term framework agreement builds on the previous four-year collaboration, further integrating Van Oord's role in the growing offshore wind operations and maintenance sector.
