RWE Supply & Trading has reached an agreement to source up to 250,000 tonnes of green annually from Indian producer AM Green Ammonia BV.

The companies signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) outlining the supply arrangement, which will see ammonia sourced from AM Green's facilities in Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh, and Tuticorin, . Both production sites use carbon-free energy sources, including solar, wind, and power.

Under the deal, an initial 50,000 tonnes will come from the Kakinada site, with the remaining 200,000 tonnes produced at Tuticorin. The green ammonia will be certified to meet standards for Renewable Fuels of Non-Biological Origin (RFNBO).

AM Green's Kakinada site has already received pre-certification, and similar certification is in progress for its other facilities.

Deliveries of the green ammonia are scheduled to begin by 2027. The companies are expected to finalize an offtake agreement that will formalize the terms of the deal.
