Portuguese renewables company EDP Renovaveis SA (EDPR) has signed a 24-year capacity tolling agreement in for a 200-MW/800-MWh system (BESS).

The agreement, made through LLC, involves Arizona utility (SRP) off-taking the electricity stored in the local BESS, EDPR announced on Tuesday.

The BESS, which is planned to become operational in 2025, will be EDPR's largest battery project in North America.

EDPR stated that this project underscores the company's belief in the critical role of storage in enhancing the potential for renewable energy, accelerating the energy transition, and decarbonizing the economy.
