A demonstration project for a retrofit solution enabling remote control and monitoring of older Vestas V90 wind turbines is now in field use for the first time. The new M100 system from Electronic, featuring the UIO106 input/output module, is being deployed at a wind farm operated by an unnamed business in northern .

A Bachmann MC212 controller module has been installed in the nacelle of the wind turbine, providing the plant operator with remote access to the turbine's functions and real-time data, which was previously unavailable from the manufacturer. The M100 station, installed at the tower base, allows service technicians to access the wind turbine's control unit.

The system reads the service key switch and displays remote access status, prioritizing on-site service and transmitting information about remote access and status. Communication between the M100 station and the MC212 module in the nacelle is facilitated via a fiber optic cable already in place for a Bachmann CMS, using media converters.

Bachmann Electronic and the operator have initiated discussions about the next development steps. After creating a prototype for the entire V90 fleet, the solution is expected to enter series production.
