Renewables developer CWP Europe has announced plans to construct a hybrid wind- park in Serbia, aiming to add 350 MW of power generation capacity in the eastern district of Zajecar. The detailed project plan, released by the city of Zajecar last week, is open for initial public consultations until the end of July.

The Vida project includes the installation of photovoltaic (PV) panels and wind turbine generators across 3,870 hectares of land. Additionally, the project involves the construction of a substation, a distribution switchgear, and a system (BESS). The project will be executed by a special purpose vehicle named Vida Power.

Raghav Singh, director of large business at EDF Business Solutions, emphasized the project's potential: “Our goal is to integrate advanced renewable technologies to meet Serbia's growing energy demands sustainably.”

CWP Europe is part of CWP Global, a company active in Central and Eastern Europe since 2010. Currently, CWP Europe is developing over 7 GW of wind, solar, and battery storage projects in through a joint venture with Mercuria. Its operational assets in the region include the 158-MW Cibuk wind farm in Serbia and the 600-MW wind park in Romania.

“The Vida project represents a significant step forward in our mission to deliver large-scale renewable energy solutions in the Balkans,” said a CWP Europe spokesperson. “This hybrid park will not only contribute to Serbia's renewable energy targets but also support the local economy and job creation.”

The public consultations for the Vida project will provide a platform for local stakeholders to engage with the development plans, ensuring that community input is considered in the project's implementation.
