Spanish inverter manufacturer Ingeteam has secured a supply agreement with Enel Green Power Australia for the 93MW Girgarre solar farm project. Under the agreement, Ingeteam will provide its advanced power electronics technology, including 15 transformer stations and a power plant controller system, as part of a turnkey solution.
The Girgarre solar farm, located in the Campaspe Shire of Victoria, Australia, is expected to generate approximately 200GWh of electricity annually once operational. Construction commenced in August 2023 and is slated to be completed within an 18-month timeframe by Beon Energy Solutions, representing an investment of approximately AU$140 million (US$94.6 million). The project's operational lifespan is projected to be around 35 years.
Late last year, Enel Green Power Australia finalized a solar power purchase agreement for the Girgarre solar plant with SmartestEnergy Australia, underscoring its commitment to renewable energy expansion in the region.
Ingeteam's involvement in the global solar market extends beyond Australia. Recently, the company announced its participation in a 250MW solar PV project developed by Spanish firm Grenergy in the Tabernas desert of Andalusia, Spain. Ingeteam will supply 70 Ingecon Sun 3Power C Series inverters for this project, which is expected to generate 466.6GWh of electricity annually upon completion in the first half of 2025.
Additionally, Ingeteam has secured a supply deal with Grenergy for a monumental 1GW solar-plus-storage project in Chile's Atacama Desert. This project, to be completed in five phases by 2026, will boast 4.1GWh of energy storage capacity, positioning it as one of the largest solar-plus-storage installations globally.
