Dutch project developer PowerField Energy BV has initiated trading operations at its newly commissioned 28 MWp solar-plus-storage facility in Wanneperveen, Overijssel province, marking a significant advancement in renewable energy deployment. Operated under its new business unit, PowerField Energy, the project integrates solar photovoltaic (PV) arrays with a co-located 21 MW/52 MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS).
“We are pleased to announce the launch of trading operations at our Wanneperveen facility,” stated Eelco Rondhuis, Head of Energy Management at PowerField. “This solar-plus-storage project exemplifies our commitment to integrating innovative solutions for optimal energy management.”
The facility is equipped to participate actively in the Dutch Day-Ahead and Intraday electricity markets, facilitated by FlexPower for asset trading and optimization. PowerField leverages Spectral's STELLAR platform, a Virtual Power Plant (VPP) solution, to streamline operations and maximize efficiency.
“Co-locating PV and battery storage under a single grid access point is a strategic choice that enhances operational synergies,” Rondhuis added. “This integrated approach allows us to optimize grid capacity utilization and respond dynamically to market conditions, including PV generation and market price fluctuations.”
