Technip Energies and SBM Offshore Launch Ekwil for Floating Offshore Wind Projects

and have formally launched Ekwil, a 50/50 joint venture aimed at accelerating the deployment of floating wind solutions worldwide. Headquartered in , Ekwil will operate as a dedicated delivery partner offering a range of ‘series production' technologies tailored to meet the evolving needs of global energy customers.

The joint venture integrates the expertise of Technip Energies and SBM Offshore, combining Technip's semi-submersible INO technology with SBM Offshore's tension leg platform Float4Wind. This collaboration aims to cover a broad spectrum of the floating offshore wind (FOW) market, facilitating the commercial deployment of these advanced technologies.

Ekwil will be supported by a core team of 40 specialists and backed by the resources of both SBM Offshore and Technip Energies for project execution. Séverine Baudic, former managing director of new energies & services at SBM Offshore, will serve as Ekwil's chief executive, while Willy Gauttier, previously vice president of FOW at Technip Energies, assumes the role of chief operating officer.

Technip Energies CEO Arnaud Pieton emphasized, “By bringing together two world leading players, Ekwil will accelerate the deployment of industrial solutions for the nascent Floating Offshore Wind market.” SBM Offshore CEO Oivind Tangen echoed this sentiment, stating, “This collaboration with Technip Energies ensures the availability of optimal solutions with certainty and reliability in delivery.”

Ekwil chief executive Séverine Baudic expressed confidence in the venture's potential, remarking, “Today's launch of Ekwil marks a significant step to power progress in the floating offshore wind market, combining industry-leading expertise and solutions.”
