Enel Green Power has initiated electricity supply to the grid from its newly operational 93MW Girgarre solar park located in Victoria, Australia, with full power generation expected by early 2025, the company announced in a LinkedIn post.
Situated approximately 50 km west of Shepparton in the Shire of Campaspe, the Girgarre solar park is currently in the final stages of its commissioning phase. The project, valued at AUD 140 million (USD 93 million / EUR 86.9 million), commenced construction last September under the oversight of Beon Australia & New Zealand.
Electricity generated from the Girgarre solar park will be sold under a long-term power purchase agreement (PPA) with SmartestEnergy Australia, a subsidiary of Japan's Marubeni Corp. The solar technology for the project is provided by Longi Asia-Pacific, a division of Chinese solar panel manufacturer Longi Green Technology Energy Co.
Once fully operational, the Girgarre solar park is expected to produce sufficient electricity to meet the annual demand of approximately 43,000 homes in the region.
