Statkraft AS, the Norwegian state-owned energy company, has achieved a significant milestone by installing the final turbine at its Morro do Cruzeiro wind park in Bahia, Brazil.
Situated across the municipalities of Uibai and Ibipeba, the wind farm comprises 14 turbines with a total capacity of 79.8 megawatts (MW). Once operational, it is expected to generate approximately 386 gigawatt hours (GWh) of renewable electricity annually, meeting the energy needs of over 190,000 local households.
“We are pleased to announce the completion of turbine installation at Morro do Cruzeiro, underscoring our commitment to expanding renewable energy infrastructure in Brazil,” a spokesperson for Statkraft remarked.
Statkraft has outlined plans to invest BRL 926 million (USD 170.5 million/EUR 158.8 million) to develop 275 MW of solar capacity at the Morro do Cruzeiro site and the nearby Ventos de Santa Eugenia project, totaling approximately 519 MW.
