The H2med corridor, a significant project aimed at connecting the Iberian Peninsula to Northwest Europe, has launched a Call for Interest to evaluate the infrastructure needs across the hydrogen value chain.

Led by transmission system operators (TSOs) from (REN), Spain (Enagas), (GRTgaz and Terega), and (OGE), the initiative seeks to gather input on the national hydrogen backbones that are set to be constructed by 2030.

The Call for Interest, announced during a webinar in Madrid, will remain open until December 18. The information gathered will help optimize the infrastructure design and establish operational requirements.

The H2med corridor will include key interconnections such as the hydrogen from Celorico da Beira in Portugal to Zamora in Spain, as well as a maritime pipeline from Barcelona to Marseille in France.

These interconnections are expected to significantly enhance the hydrogen supply chain across Europe.

These projects are included in the Projects of Common Interest (PCI) list, and the five TSOs have applied for Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) funding to carry out the necessary studies for their implementation.
