In a significant move towards bolstering its renewable energy sector, the Solar Energy Corporation of India Ltd (SECI) has announced its latest endeavor: a Request for Selection (RfS) aimed at procuring a substantial 539,000 metric tonnes of green ammonia annually.
This initiative falls under Mode 2A of the Strategic Interventions for Green Hydrogen Transition (SIGHT) programme, an integral component of the National Green Hydrogen Mission. With the government having already earmarked 412,000 metric tonnes of annual green hydrogen production and 1.5 GW of electrolyser manufacturing capacity, the stage is set for a transformative shift towards sustainable energy solutions.
In a press statement, SECI outlined that the green ammonia sourced through this competitive bidding process will be channeled towards fertiliser production, thus contributing to the nation's agricultural sector while simultaneously reducing carbon emissions.
“The launch of this Request for Selection marks a significant milestone in India's journey towards achieving energy sustainability,” remarked [insert name], [insert designation]. “Through strategic interventions like the SIGHT programme, we aim to not only meet but exceed our renewable energy targets, driving economic growth while preserving our environment for future generations.”
Bidders are invited to submit their proposals by July 29, 2024, with a pre-bid meeting scheduled for June 28, 2024, providing stakeholders with an opportunity to gain further insights into the project's scope and requirements.
