The Romanian Energy Regulatory Authority (ANRE) has greenlit the establishment of the initial phase of the Vifor wind farm, boasting a capacity of 450MW, in Buzau county, marking a significant stride in Romania's renewable energy landscape.
This ambitious project is spearheaded by Rezolv Energy in collaboration with Low Carbon, embodying a concerted effort towards bolstering Romania's energy independence and reducing reliance on fossil fuels.
The issuance of the setting-up authorization heralds the commencement of construction activities at the site, slated to commence imminently and anticipated to conclude within an approximate timeframe of 18 months. Once operational, Vifor will sprawl across an expansive area spanning 2869 hectares.
Marian Pavel, General Manager Romania of Rezolv Energy, expressed enthusiasm for the project's role in fostering energy security and environmental sustainability, stating, “Vifor may be the smallest of Rezolv's projects in Romania but it will still be a very large wind farm which will help reduce Romania's dependence on fossil fuels, enhance the country's energy security and improve air quality.”
Pavel emphasized the significance of obtaining the setting-up authorization, lauding it as a pivotal milestone propelling the project into the construction phase. He reaffirmed Rezolv's commitment to delivering the project ahead of schedule, thereby contributing to Romania's renewable energy objectives.
With a track record of over 2GW of clean energy projects in the pipeline across southeastern Europe, Rezolv is poised to significantly augment the region's renewable energy capacity. In addition to the Vifor site, Rezolv's portfolio includes the 1GW Dama Solar project in western Romania, the 600MW Dunarea East & West wind farms in Constanța county, and St George, a 229MW PV array in northeastern Bulgaria.
