AV Dawson and Prysmian Forge Long-Term Partnership at Port of Middlesbrough

AV Dawson, the owner and operator of Port of Middlesbrough, has recently inked a significant long-term partnership deal with , the Italian firm renowned for its contributions to the wind industry. The agreement, spanning 10 years, solidifies Prysmian's commitment to the port, marking a pivotal moment in its strategic expansion plans.

Prysmian's tenure at Port of Middlesbrough spans a decade, during which the site has evolved into a pivotal hub for its northern European marine operations, especially amid the burgeoning offshore wind sector. With an eye on future growth and a surge in contracts, Prysmian has secured additional warehousing and office space at the port, signaling its intention to further integrate within the region's industrial landscape.

Charlie Nettle, AV Dawson's group managing director, expressed enthusiasm about the extended partnership, emphasizing its positive implications for and Northeast 's offshore wind sector. He remarked, “We have great relationships with the Prysmian team and a real partnership approach between us – we are thrilled that Prysmian wants to continue to call Port of Middlesbrough its home.” Nettle underscored the agreement's significance, asserting, “It really puts Port of Middlesbrough and the wider region on the map.”

To accommodate Prysmian's growth trajectory, AV Dawson has made substantial investments in port and quayside facilities. Notably, preparations were made for the arrival of the Leonardo Da Vinci (LDV), the largest cable-laying vessel of its kind globally. Nettle elaborated, “We needed to ensure we had the capacity on our berths to accommodate her,” highlighting the proactive measures taken to support Prysmian's operations.

Peter Watson, responsible for Prysmian's marine base management, highlighted the strategic importance of Northeast England for the company's current and forthcoming projects.
