Renewables leader Cypress Creek Renewables has marked the successful culmination of its Zier hybrid power project in Brackettville, Texas, with the addition of a robust 208-MW solar farm complemented by 80 MWh of battery energy storage capacity.
In an announcement on Monday, Cypress Creek confirmed that the facility has commenced commercial operation, underscoring its pivotal role in supporting the Texas grid. The co-located battery system has already been enlisted by the Texas grid operator ERCOT to alleviate supply strain during peak demand periods, showcasing the project's immediate impact on grid stability.
Beyond its operational significance, the Zier project is poised to deliver substantial economic benefits to the region. Projections indicate that it will generate USD 11.5 million (EUR 10.7m) in tax revenue for Kinney County and USD 11.7 million for the Bracket Independent School District, providing a significant boost to local finances.
Cypress Creek, supported by Swedish investment powerhouse EQT AB (STO:EQT), boasts an impressive 6-gigawatt pipeline across Texas, comprising 24 projects currently in various stages of construction and development. This expansive portfolio underscores the company's steadfast commitment to advancing renewable energy infrastructure and fostering sustainability in the Lone Star State.
