Greenvolt Power has signed a strategic partnership with Danish energy trader Reel to optimise the 157MW Høegholm hybrid solar and battery project in Denmark.
The Djursland-based project combines 97.36MW of solar photovoltaic capacity with a 60MW/120MWh battery energy storage system and is currently under construction, the company said.
Commercial operations are scheduled to begin in the first quarter of 2026 for the solar plant and in the fourth quarter of 2026 for the battery unit.
Under the agreement, Reel will deliver real-time balancing, market optimisation and hedging services through its proprietary trading platform. The company will manage participation in wholesale, intraday and ancillary services markets and structure power purchase agreements for the project.
Once operational, the Høegholm facility is expected to generate about 97GWh of electricity annually, sufficient to supply more than 24,000 Danish households.
Anders Engtoft Meldgaard, chief commercial officer and co-founder of Reel, said: “The Høegholm project is a prime example of the future of renewable energy: hybrid assets that combine generation and flexibility. We are excited to partner with Greenvolt Power to manage this complex asset. By leveraging our optimisation platform, we will ensure that the renewable energy produced in Høegholm is fed when the grid needs it most, maximising both climate impact and commercial performance.”
Łukasz Zagórski, commercial director energy management origination at Greenvolt Power, said the partnership aligns with the company’s long-term European strategy.
“This partnership reflects our long-term strategy to build resilient and high-performance renewable energy platforms across Europe. Collaborations of this kind strengthen our position as a stable and reliable business partner, while allowing us to implement projects that raise the standards for hybrid renewable infrastructure,” he said.
Henri Schuman, business development director at Greenvolt Power in Denmark, added: “Securing a sophisticated optimization partner is crucial for a project of this scale and technical complexity. Reel’s experience in the Danish market and their innovative approach to balancing and optimization align perfectly with our goal of providing resilient renewable infrastructure. Together, we are setting a new standard for how solar and storage can work in tandem to support Denmark’s 2030 climate goals.”
