Dutch-German grid operator TenneT has launched a formal recruitment and selection process for a new chief executive as the second term of CEO Manon van Beek is set to conclude on Aug. 31, 2026.
The supervisory board said the search had begun well in advance to safeguard leadership continuity during what it described as a crucial phase in the Dutch and wider European energy transition. The move aligns with the State Holdings Policy, which limits executive appointments to two terms.
Given the scale of TenneT’s responsibilities and its current strategic stage, the board said a timely, transparent and careful succession process was essential.
Supervisory board chair Ab van der Touw praised van Beek’s leadership and stressed the importance of stability during the transition.
“Manon plays an extremely important role in this crucial phase of the Dutch and European energy transition. Her leadership is of great value for the execution of our strategic priorities and for the stability of the organisation,” van der Touw said.
“Continuity remains central for the Supervisory Board. We have full confidence that Manon will continue to fulfil her role with the same commitment, energy and sense of societal responsibility until the moment of handover. In the period ahead, we will focus on a careful and orderly recruitment and transition process,” he added.
Van Beek said she would remain fully focused on the company’s objectives during the transition period.
“The energy transition is what drives me: contributing to a reliable, affordable and future-proof energy system is more than a role for me,” she said.
“I will continue to dedicate myself fully to delivering on our strategic objectives and advancing the energy transition in the Netherlands, Germany and the rest of Europe in this decisive phase and take responsibility for a solid and well-prepared handover to my successor,” she added.
The supervisory board said it would not comment on potential candidates or the timing of the selection process until decisions have been made.
