TotalEnergies has signed two long-term power purchase agreements (PPAs) to deliver 1GW of solar capacity to supply Google’s data centres in Texas.
The electricity will be generated by TotalEnergies’ 805MWp Wichita and 195MWp Mustang Creek solar projects, both located in Texas. Construction on the sites is scheduled to begin in the second quarter of 2026.
Under the 15-year agreements, the projects are expected to supply a combined 28TWh of renewable electricity, supporting Google’s growing data centre operations in the state.
TotalEnergies said the deals complement separate gross PPAs totalling 1.2GW recently secured by Clearway to supply Google data centres across the ERCOT, PJM and SPP power markets.
The Wichita and Mustang Creek developments are expected to create several hundred jobs during construction and generate significant tax revenues for local public services.
Marc-Antoine Pignon, vice president of renewables U.S. at TotalEnergies, said the agreements represent the largest renewable PPA volume ever signed by the company in the United States.
“We are pleased to sign these agreements to supply renewable electricity to Google in Texas,” he said. “This highlights TotalEnergies’ strategy to deliver tailored renewable energy solutions that support the decarbonisation goals of digital players, particularly data centres.”
Pignon added that the projects also address challenges around land availability and power supply for data centre development by enabling large-scale co-location opportunities.
Will Conkling, director of clean energy and power at Google, said the agreements would strengthen the regional power system.
“Supporting a strong, stable, affordable grid is a top priority as we expand our infrastructure,” he said. “Our agreement with TotalEnergies adds necessary new generation to the local system, boosting the amount of affordable and reliable power supply available to serve the entire region.”
TotalEnergies currently has a gross capacity portfolio of 10GW of onshore solar, wind and battery storage assets in operation across the United States, including 400MW in the PJM market and around 5GW in ERCOT.
The company said the Google PPAs add to a growing list of corporate renewable power agreements already signed with companies including Airbus, Amazon, Microsoft, Merck, Air Liquide, Saint-Gobain, STMicroelectronics, Orange, Sasol, Data4 and LyondellBasell.
