ScottishPower Renewables has commenced turbine deliveries for the Kilgallioch wind farm extension, a development that will add nine new turbines to the existing site in south-west Scotland.
The extension will increase the wind farm’s total capacity to 290 megawatts, which the company said is enough to supply electricity to over 190,000 homes.
Blades and tower components have started arriving at the site, marking a significant step in the construction process. The project is being delivered in partnership with Farrans Construction and other contractors.
“This marks a key milestone in the construction programme,” ScottishPower Renewables said in a statement, noting that the extension will strengthen Kilgallioch’s contribution to Scotland’s renewable energy targets.
The company added that the project supports national efforts to accelerate the transition to net zero.
