Swedish renewable energy firm OX2 has commissioned its 100 megawatt (MW) Rutki solar farm in Poland, marking its first operational project as an independent power producer (IPP), the company said on Monday.
The solar facility, located in central Poland and spanning more than 78 hectares, has begun supplying electricity to the national grid. It is expected to produce approximately 108 gigawatt hours (GWh) of electricity annually, equivalent to the consumption of tens of thousands of households.
The project is backed by a 15-year Contract for Difference (CfD) awarded by the Polish Energy Regulatory Office, providing revenue stability for the site.
Poland is one of OX2’s key markets globally, and the Rutki project is our first step as an IPP,” said OX2 Chief Executive Paul Stormoen. “We are proud to be delivering this project in a country with such immense renewable potential. For years, OX2 has been a committed driver of Europe’s energy transition and now, in Poland, we are reinforcing our long-term commitment to energy security and climate neutrality.
The company said the launch of Rutki represents a strategic shift toward owning and operating its own renewable energy assets, alongside its continued development activities across Europe.
OX2 also highlighted local engagement efforts, including the installation of more than 50 fire hydrants and fire safety training for nearly 200 residents in nearby communities as part of the project’s development.
The Rutki facility is part of OX2’s broader expansion strategy in Central and Eastern Europe, where demand for clean energy infrastructure is rising amid efforts to reduce reliance on fossil fuels and enhance energy security.
