Renewable energy developer OX2 has completed the handover of the 70-megawatt Riberget wind farm in central Sweden to independent power producer Fu-Gen, the company said on Tuesday.
The 11-turbine project, located in the regions of Västernorrland and Gävleborg, is expected to generate approximately 210 gigawatt-hours (GWh) of electricity annually. The output is intended to support local industries and contribute to regional energy competitiveness.
“We are proud to hand over Riberget wind farm and contribute to strengthening the renewable energy supply,” said Emelie Zakrisson, country manager Sweden at OX2. “From the start of the project, we have had a strong focus on biological diversity and actions to preserve areas with high nature values and create biotopes for endangered species.”
OX2 noted that the development was carried out in collaboration with the local municipality, landowners, residents, and Fu-Gen, with particular attention to biodiversity and environmental protection.
While ownership has transferred to Fu-Gen, OX2 will continue to manage the technical and commercial operations of the wind farm.
The company is currently constructing 1,600 megawatts (MW) of wind capacity across six markets and manages renewable assets totalling 6,200MW.
