BayWa r.e., the renewables subsidiary of German conglomerate BayWa AG, has completed the sale of three onshore wind projects in Germany and France with a combined capacity of 36 megawatts (MW), the company said on Wednesday.
In Germany, BayWa r.e. sold the 11.4MW Prüm and 12.4MW Altenglan wind farms, both located in the state of Rhineland-Palatinate, to KGAL Investment Management, a German asset manager focused on infrastructure and real assets.
The Prüm project, located in the Eifel region, consists of two turbines and is expected to be connected to the grid in June 2025. The Altenglan site, situated in the West Palatinate region, includes two turbines and is scheduled for completion in September 2025. BayWa r.e. will continue to provide technical and commercial management services for both wind farms, and implement measures to support local biodiversity.
The Altenglan project builds on the nearby 17.25MW Bedesbach wind farm, aligning with BayWa r.e.’s strategy to scale renewable energy capacity in the region.
In France, the company sold the 12MW Keranna wind farm in Brittany to 3D Energies, a semi-public firm involved in developing and operating renewable energy projects. The Keranna site features four turbines and is expected to be commissioned in summer 2025. BayWa r.e. will retain responsibility for technical operations and has introduced biodiversity initiatives alongside preferential electricity tariffs for local residents.
“These achievements are testament to our ability to deliver high-quality projects at various stages, catering to a diverse range of investors – from specialised financial players to local and regional actors,” said Daniel Gafke, Chief Operating Officer at BayWa r.e. “We are delighted to celebrate these successful transactions in Q2 across two of our key wind markets.”
BayWa r.e. said the transactions support its broader goal of strengthening relationships with institutional and community-level partners while contributing to regional energy transition efforts.
