Quanta Energy has been selected to build solar farms for Stellantis, the parent company of brands such as Citroën, Fiat, and Peugeot, to support the decarbonisation of its facilities in Poland. The project, which will involve the construction of photovoltaic farms with a combined capacity of nearly 58 megawatts (MW), will supply energy to four Stellantis production plants in Gliwice, Skoczów, and two in Tychy.
The solar farms will consist of approximately 94,300 photovoltaic modules and will span nearly 54 hectares of land—equivalent to the area of 3,333 volleyball courts. The energy generated by these farms is expected to power Stellantis’ Polish plants while contributing to the company’s sustainability goals.
Piotr Grzybczak, CEO of Quanta Energy, expressed the company’s pride in the partnership with Stellantis. “We are proud to partner with Stellantis on this strategic project. Together, we set the course and prove how innovation and responsibility shape the automotive industry. Using our knowledge and experience, we support Stellantis in achieving its sustainability goals,” Grzybczak said.
The first solar farm was built and commissioned three months ahead of schedule and has been operational since January, providing power to the Stellantis power unit factory in Tychy. The project is now moving to the next phase, which will include the construction of a battery energy storage system (BESS) and a carport.
Sławomir Czernecki, Director of the Tychy plant, highlighted the benefits of the investment: “Thanks to this investment, the Polish Stellantis plants are becoming more energy independent and at the same time environmentally friendly. Reducing carbon dioxide emissions, increasing the security of energy supply and reducing operating costs are its measurable benefits. They cannot be overestimated in the dynamically changing business environment and in the face of growing international competition.”
The total amount of electricity generated by the solar farms is expected to be sufficient to power nearly 20,000 households in Poland annually.
