Commerz Real has acquired a ready-to-build 47MWp solar park in Aube, eastern France, for its Klimavest fund. The project, developed by BayWa r.e., is set to cover an area of 42 hectares near the city of Troyes and is slated for completion by September 2025.
BayWa r.e. will not only sell the solar park to Commerz Real but will also manage its construction and subsequent technical and commercial operations. Once operational, the Amance photovoltaic power plant is expected to generate enough electricity to meet the average energy consumption of approximately 11,000 households.
“France is an attractive investment location for solar and wind power projects thanks to its economic and political framework conditions,” said Michael Henn, global head of green deal infrastructure at Commerz Real. “In BayWa r.e., we have an experienced partner by our side, and one with whom we have already successfully collaborated in the past.”
The electricity generated by the Amance plant will be marketed through a fixed state feed-in tariff, complemented by a long-term power purchase agreement (PPA) with a commercial bulk buyer, providing revenue stability for the project.
Klimavest, launched in 2020, currently manages assets totaling €1.5 billion, with a portfolio of over 40 wind and solar energy projects across six countries. The acquisition marks another significant step in the fund's strategy to expand its renewable energy investments.
