Uniper Begins Construction on Two Solar Parks in Hungary with 151MW Capacity

Uniper has launched the construction phase of two new parks in Hungary, marking a significant step in the company's renewable energy expansion. The combined capacity of the two projects in Tét and Dunaföldvár will reach 151MW, providing enough renewable electricity to power up to 92,000 households annually.

“We are proud to be part of Hungary's energy transition and to support the country's path to renewable energy with these solar projects,” said Uniper Chief Executive Jörg Lennertz. “Tét and Dunaföldvár represent important milestones on our journey towards a sustainable energy future.”

The 61MW solar project in Dunaföldvár is set to begin construction in the second quarter of 2025, with grid connection expected by 2026. Meanwhile, the 90MW Tét project will start building in the third quarter of 2025, with operations slated to commence in 2027.

As part of its broader strategy to expand its renewable energy portfolio across Europe, Uniper is also focusing on key markets including Germany, France, the UK, Italy, Sweden, Hungary, and Poland. In the UK, the company is advancing two solar projects in the Midlands, namely the Tamworth Solar Farm (44.2MW) and the Totmonslow Solar Farm (21.3MW). Once operational, the combined 65MW capacity from these projects will be capable of supplying renewable electricity to around 23,000 homes annually.

Uniper expects to begin construction on these UK projects later this year, with the first electricity to be fed into the national grid by 2026.
