COPENHAGEN, Jan 7 (Reuters) – Ziton, a leading provider of operations and maintenance (O&M) services to the offshore wind industry, has added another jack-up vessel to its fleet. The new vessel, named Wind Discovery, has been registered in the Danish International Register of Shipping and will further enhance the company’s capacity to serve the growing offshore wind sector.

With this addition, Ziton’s fleet now includes six O&M-dedicated jack-up vessels, making it the largest operational fleet of such vessels in the European offshore wind industry, the company said. Wind Discovery, which was built in 2011, has previously been involved in transport and installation (T&I) work for new wind farms. Before it enters the O&M market for major component replacements, the vessel will undergo upgrades to meet Ziton’s specific standards.

The upgraded vessel is expected to be ready for deployment under a time charter agreement in the second quarter of 2025, where it will serve a large customer in need of component replacement services.

“The addition of Wind Discovery marks a significant investment in our ability to support the offshore wind industry as it grows,” said Thorsten Jalk, CEO of Ziton. “The vessel’s capabilities are well-suited to the segment of larger turbines, and we are excited to include her in our fleet and upgrade her to our high Ziton standards. This addition strengthens our position as a trusted service provider in the offshore wind sector with the largest fleet of operational jack-up vessels.”

Ziton’s expanding fleet will enable the company to provide comprehensive services across all segments of the offshore wind industry, particularly in major component replacements. The company continues to solidify its role as a key player in the offshore wind sector with a focus on maintaining and enhancing its operational capabilities.
